Dr. Mary C. Trahar is a dual specialist in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Dr. Trahar’s background in pediatric dentistry distinguishes her from other orthodontists. Her dual training encompasses not only a thorough knowledge of orthodontic principles, but also a greater understanding of growth and development.

Dr. Trahar grew up in Annapolis and attended Saint Mary’s School. Dr. Trahar graduated from The American University in Washington, D.C., and received her dental degree from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Trahar was commissioned an officer in the Air Force following dental school. She attended a residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. before serving at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, where she supervised a pediatric dental clinic.

Following her service with the Air Force, Dr. Trahar attended a combined program in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she published a clinical research paper on distraction osteogenesis in The American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

After completing her specialty training, Dr. Trahar practiced in Washington, D.C., before returning home to Annapolis to open her new office.
