The purpose of your first visit is to determine whether orthodontic treatment is necessary. Allow about an hour for this visit. We will ask you to complete a medical and dental health history and a short questionnaire giving basic information for our files. If your dentist has a recent X-ray available, we ask that you bring them with you on your first visit.
Dr. Trahar will examine you, review any available records and make treatment recommendations. Following this appointment, we will send your dentist a letter summarizing the result of this initial evaluation.
If Orthodontic Treatment is Indicated, we will:
1) Take diagnostic records.
2) Discuss the evaluation of these records and present a treatment plan.
Diagnostic Records: These usually consist of facial and dental photographs, X-rays and impressions from which we make three-dimensional digital models (Orthocad) of your teeth. We will take only those records necessary to supplement what is already available to us.
Treatment Conference:
Dr. Trahar will discuss treatment alternatives and recommendations. She will thoroughly evaluate the diagnostic records and contact your dentist and any other specialist involved in your treatment. She will then present a written summary of your treatment plan and answer any questions you may have. Finally, we will indicate the fee for your orthodontic treatment and establish arrangements for payment.
